Someone left this note in the pantry for me to find. It made me cry! Notes like these ones kept me going.

Muchas Gracias!

Thank you so much, this pantry is a blessing, is the light in the darkest night, an oasis of love. The honest feeling when someone still cares is the most valuable treasure here… Out of love, with love I thank you from my heart.

LOVE NOTES

Hi Veronica,

Thank you for your vision and bravery in offering the pantry to the community over 3 years; to your neighbors for their patience; and to the countless others who have donated.

I know from experience how difficult it is to work behind the scenes, often alone, managing a front-line responsibility: impact is elusive; labor never ending.

My wish is that you can momentarily rest in this good you have provided and that your example will reverberate through our community, returning in an improved form, and better yet - be a step toward eradicating the need for such a project. We can hope!

Warmly, C.
Berkeley, CA

Thank you, Veronica, for running the pantry over the last three years. It was truly a beautiful thing that I was proud was in my city. Thank you!

Dearest Veronica,

Having partnered with you all these many months and witnessed the selflessness with which you conceived of and carried through the project, I know your heart and your level of compassion.

You helped so many people in need—I have been constantly awed by your kindness and determination. Your effort has been a huge mitzvah—I admire you so much! May the days ahead be restorative.

Hi Veronica!

My son and I are neighbors on Curtis Street. We have long been fans of the Little Free Food Pantry on Rose Street. We were saddened to see that it has been taken down while also really respecting your choice to do so. We are so appreciative of all you have done and really want to be a part of this type of work in the future. Thank you so much!  – JA

Hi there, I tried to drop off some things for the food pantry and it seems to be missing. (Hopefully not destroyed or vandalized.)  It's been great for me to drop off things, and I've recruited quite a few other people to do so as well. I've even been ordering extra shelf-stable food to leave there.

Sometimes I would just look at my crowded cabinets and start pulling things I don't use often, so it was nice to have a place where I could take open spices or recently expired food, which the food bank doesn't take. I’m sad it’s gone. I would bring produce from my garden or freshly baked goods (bagged or boxed to try and not make a mess), and occasionally kitchen gadgets or soap.
